Working as the planning agent, we submitted a scheme for the re-development of an under-utilised employment site on behalf of Mileway, the leading pan-European last mile logistics real estate company. The proposals replaced two dilapidated units with four high quality modern employment units with flexible consent. The units and wider site were designed to incorporate a variety of sustainability and energy efficiency measures and design assessment indicated a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating could be achieved. The high-quality nature of the development reaffirmed the industry-wide renaissance in design and quality of employment units. At the time, this was Mileway’s flagship scheme in the UK, with their future investment in the UK contingent on the success of this application. By working closely with Council Officers, we overcame all the hurdles before us and secured a unanimous approval at planning committee.
