Stockport Council has granted detailed planning consent for the refurbishment of Hazel Grove High School’s Sixth Form.
This project for the Laurus Trust relates to the refurbishment of the school’s existing sixth form building.
The application, submitted in November 2021, incorporates the refurbishment and extension of the original building as well as an additional storey. Together, the works will provide reorganised accommodation to significantly improve the educational environment.
The Laurus Trust is a multi-academy trust operating seven schools across Stockport, Manchester, Tameside and Cheshire East. Hazel Grove High School joined the Trust in September 2019 and its sixth form provision was judged outstanding by Ofsted in January 2022. Most recently, the Trust has been selected to operate Woodford Primary School opening in September 2022 and a new primary school located in Manchester’s city centre to open in 2023.

We have been working collaboratively with Pozzoni Architects and Kilhey Consulting over the past 18 months on several school refurbishment projects, and are looking forward to building on this relationship, as the approved scheme moves on to condition discharge and work commencing on site.

The new space will incorporate specialist study areas, a dedicated ICT room, social and breakout spaces, space for assemblies and eight new classrooms enabling the school to offer an academic set of A-level subjects.
