P4 successfully secured permission for the refurbishment of a Grade II* listed building on Newcastle’s historical Grey Street. Scotland’s largest independently-owned restaurant group, DRG required advertisement and listed building consent to facilitate their first English restaurant venture, Spanish-themed restaurant, Café Andaluz. The key challenge was to demonstrate the need for minor alterations to the listed building, whilst retaining and protecting historical features to bring the currently vacant unit back to use. Positive negotiation with the City Council addressed and overcame initial concerns with the application so that the proposal protected the listed building, whilst creating an exciting new restaurant offer in the City Centre.
